A
Note About Accreditation
Accreditation or acceptance by any the above
organization(s) ensures that degrees issued
by Almeda carry the weight they need to be
accepted by small, medium, and large companies
across the United States and around the world.
However, accreditation by these organizations
does not guarantee your degree will be accepted
by everyone. If you are unsure about whether
the company you work for or the company you
would like to apply to will accept your degree,
we encourage you to contact them before proceeding
any further with us.
The same can be said for transferring your
Almeda degree to another college or university.
Few colleges or universities recognize credits
earned at other institutions. This goes for
traditional colleges, such as Harvard or Yale,
as well as non-traditional colleges like Almeda.
Therefore, if you wish to use your Almeda
degree as the basis for further education
or transfer your Almeda credits to another
educational institution, we encourage you
to contact that institution before pursuing
your degree at Almeda to see what their policy
is on this matter.
In the United States, accreditation is used
to assure quality in educational institutions
and programs. Accreditation is a voluntary,
non-governmental process of peer review.
It requires an educational institution or
program to meet certain, defined standards
or criteria. Accreditation is sometimes confused
with certification. In general, institutions
and programs are accredited, and individuals
are certified.
There are two types of accreditation—institutional
and specialized. Institutional accreditors,
such as those referred to as "regional" accreditors,
examine the college or university as
a whole educational institution. Specialized
accreditors evaluate specific educational
programs. Professional accreditors, such as
those for medicine, law, architecture
and engineering, fall into this category.
The Association for Online Academic Excellence
(AOAEX), the organization that accredits Almeda
College & University, is a professional
accrediting organization that accredits
programs—specifically those in the distance
learning arena. Unlike many other accrediting
bodies, the AOAEX accreditation has been conferred
upon us for our honesty and integrity
in business practices and the value of the
acceptability of our diploma process. It is
not an examination of our courses or online academic
studies.
The AOAEX is not recognized by the U.S. Department
of Education as one of the seven official
regional accrediting agencies. This non-recognition
may have some implications to include,
but not limited to: 1. Almeda College &
University is unable to participate in the
Federal Student Loan / Financial Aid program.
2. Almeda College & University is
not authorized to accept the GI Bill. 3. Almeda
College & University is unable to guarantee
acceptance of its degree programs in other postsecondary
institutions except those accredited by the
AOAEX. 4. Corporations are not required to
recognize degrees from Almeda College &
University. Almeda College & University
expects to pursue regional accreditation in
2003; however, we cannot guarantee accreditation
will be granted to us at that time.
We recommend all prospective applicants check
with their potential employer to determine
their policies on acceptance of degrees from
private postsecondary institutions with
AOAEX accreditation.
Any changes to Almeda’s accreditation status
will be announced immediately on this web
site. |
